By His Grace Ministries began as a short-term teaching ministry in 1992 as a part of Dr. James Brettell's vision for the teaching of sound doctrine on the island of Mindanao, Philippines, hence the name Mindanao Vision.  In 1998 By His Grace Ministries became a full-time, life commitment as Davao City, Philippines became my home, and the teaching of sound doctrine on a daily basis became a reality on the island of Mindanao.

Over the past ten years hundreds of Filipino communicators, both male and female, have spent time in our home as we have gathered to study God's word.  One of those whose path met with ours on December 21, 2005 by God’s divine plan from eternity past was Pastor Daniel Hiquiana.  If you have not yet done so, I invite you to learn more of that story by visiting the “Remembering Pastor Dan” page on this website.  Since Dan’s home-going on December 16, 2006 his widow, Nelly, and their children have become family to Nita and I.  Our home has been their home in Davao City.

On several occasions prior to Dan’s home-going he offered an invitation for Nita and I to live on his farm and teach sound doctrine until the rapture of the Church or my death, whichever occurred first.  The Lord took Dan home before that invitation materialized.  However, he must have shared that desire with his family because in recent months Mrs. Hiquiana has again voiced that invitation.  It appears that this is the time that the Lord has been waiting for to make that a reality.

The photos above, along with those that will follow, are of the 13 hectare (approx. 32 acres) farm on which the Hiquiana family has invited us to relocate.  The farm is located about 4 kilometers outside of Sta. Maria, Davao del Sur, about a two hour drive south of Davao City.  The 13 hectares extend from the sea shore to the foot of the mountains.

Considering our vision for 2009 and beyond, we have changed the name of the future ministry to Mindanao Metanoia Ministries.  Not only has the Hiquiana family given us permission to build our house and the Mindanao Metanoia Ministries Sound Doctrinal Studies training center on the farm, but our vision, both ours and theirs, is that in the future this will also be the site for the Mindanao Vision Family/Youth Camp and conference center.

The Lord has made provision for the land, we now await his provision for the finances for the materials to build our home and training center.  Our plan is to build a two story building.  The upper level will be our living quarters, and the ground level will be the training center.  Pictured here are the basic, two-dimensional floor plans for the two levels.

Upper level                                        Ground floor

The total area of the structure is 1,650 sq. ft. to be built at an estimated cost of $53,000.00. (approximately $32.00 per sq. ft.)

We are currently planning on vacating our current residence in Davao City and moving to the farm at the end of this year.  We are trusting that the Lord will provide the necessary funding to begin construction by the end of October.  Please be in prayer with us that this might become a reality.

Should the Spirit be leading you to become a part in the provision for this training center you may submit your gracious gift to the Little Rock Netchurch at 21 St. Thomas Drive, Maumelle, AR  72113-7003, indicating with your gift that it is for the MMM training center in Mindanao.

Can you be an instrument of God to be a part of the financial provision even if you have nothing to give?

The Story of "Nita's (our) House"

Not long after we broke ground and began to make preparations for the foundation of the training center, it was discovered that there was no vehicular access to the 12 hectare farm.  At one time the Hiquiana family owned a much larger area in the valley in which these 12 hectares are located.  Over the recent years they donated some of their land to the government to provide small plots of land on which the homeless people in the area could build simple homes.  They also sold portions of their land to private individuals to finance the education of their children and to pay the medical bills that accrued in the last months of Pastor Dan's earthly life.  The only way we could get on the farm was by walking across someone's private property.  Work on the training center stopped until we could discover the Lord's solution to this dilemma.  Within a few days we discovered that the person who possessed the land rights to the 1200 sq. ft. lot which bordered the farm on it's northwest corner was available for sale for 30,000 pesos (approximately $650.00).  We purchased those land rights which would then give us vehicular access to the farm.  Considering the time involved in the completion of the training center and residence, and wanting to move from this house in Davao to save substantially on our monthly expenses, we decided to not only provide an access to the farm on that lot we purchased, but decided we would build a simple, native, 1-bdrm house on the property to live in temporarily.  We also learned that the rights to the lot east of our lot were also for sale for the same price, so we made a second purchase, which gave us an area of approximately 2400 sq. ft.

After we move into the training center residence, we will invite one of our friends to occupy this house.

We will keep adding photos to this slide show as construction continues, so return often and enjoy.

By the way, the walking time to the South Pacific seashore is under three minutes.
